Mould contamination is an increasingly common problem. If moisture is present, fungal growth can occur on almost any surface, including building materials, causing potential adverse health effects. Pillar Engineering provides investigations and fungal sampling, conducted in accordance with standard methods and protocols. We offer comprehensive documentation combined with professional expertise. Our reports address health concerns, including findings and observations, any sampling data and recommendations for mould abatement. Our certified mould specialists for inspection and removal of mould and their spores work in a timely fashion. Once abatement work is complete, we conduct air sampling to verify the quality of the air and the health of the environment.
Asbestos is a fibrous mineral product, strong enough to resists high temperatures, chemical attack and wear. It insulates well against heat and electricity. Asbestos was commonly used in many building materials in residential, commercial and industrial properties built before 1990. (Some websites said 1980) Asbestos can be found in shingles, exterior siding, floor tiles, sheet vinyl flooring, drywall jointing compounds, mortar walls, ceiling tiles and texture coatings, thermal tape and various types of insulation. Asbestos poses health risks with frequent and prolonged exposure to airborne particles, which are released into the air when asbestos-containing products break down through deterioration or during a renovation or repair, when they are cut. Asbestos fibres lodge in the lungs, causing scarring that can ultimately lead to impaired lung function and lung or lung cavity cancers.
